Potential for Relief of Opiate Withdrawal Symptoms
Passion Flower

DOSE:
36 mg oral Passion Flower (extract)
BODY WEIGHT: 125 lb
I discovered by accident that passion flower extract may be useful in alleviating the nasty symptoms of opiate withdrawal.

I am by no means a heavy opiate user, and the mild withdrawal that this account refers to is one of just 90mg Dihydrocodeine (DHC) that kicked in around 24-48 hours after dosing.

I bought a pack of 'honey lavender stress relief tea'* (they're actually really nice) and drank a cup made with one teabag in an attempt to chill out and take my mind off the discomfort, short breath, chest aches, headache and anxiety I was feeling.

5 mins after I downed the tea all the symptoms listed above had disappeared absolutely. It seemed too good to be true. They did not return.

This by no means establishes a cause and effect relationship, but begs more investigation if this could help with more serious opiate users.

*[containing 36 mg passionflower extract per tea bag on rooibos, chamomile, lemon balm, spearmint, lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, lemon myrtle, sage, stevia leaf according to product packaging]
